
stevie gunter is a Black, queer multidisciplinary artist aiming for joy through catharsis and strain, seeking freedom through movement and harnessing the transformative power of creativity to foster meaningful connections and shared experiences within communities. Through music production and performance, they collaborate across disciplines and are committed to exploring and celebrating the transformative potential of bringing individual and shared heritages of groove from the spirit to the surface of skin. Their artistic practice also excavates narrative through tattoo/skin marking, synchronizing personal histories with collective archetypes. stevie finds resonance with contemporary and experimental dance, reclaiming and celebrating physical traditions that connect us with our differences at the center. They have performed at the Denver Underground Music Showcase, Tanztage, OUTsider Fest, Seattle Festival of Dance + Improvisation, and Tanz im August among others. They hold a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Denver with a concentration in archival/memory work.
